At least 19 killed in hotel attack in Somalia’s capital

At The Least 19 people have been killed when Islamist attackers launched a car bomb and gun assault on a busy Hotel and adjoining restaurant within the Somali capital, a police officer said on Thursday.

A automotive pushed through a suicide bomber rammed into the luxurious Hotel in south Mogadishu on Wednesday night ahead of gunmen rushed into Pizza House, an adjacent restaurant, and took 20 individuals hostage. Posh Lodge is the only venue with a discotheque in the capital.

Abdi Bashir advised Reuters the Somali safety forces took keep watch over of the restaurant in the dead of night after the gunmen held hostages inside for several hours. 5 of the gunmen have been killed, Bashir stated.

“We’re in control of the Resort but it surely used to be mostly destroyed by way of the suicide bomber,” he told Reuters via cellphone.

Witnesses mentioned there were our bodies lying on the scene on Thursday morning as ambulances came to take them away.

Al Shabaab, the Islamist militant staff, claimed accountability for the attack.
