Clara Amfo replaces Reggie Yates on Christmas Top of the Pops

BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo is to replace Reggie Yates on BBC One’s High of the Pops Christmas and New Year specials.

Yates stepped down from the shows on Monday after making “ill-regarded as remarks” in a podcast.

He apologised closing month for the use of the phrase “fat Jewish guy” to check with managers in the song trade.

Yates has co-hosted the festive displays with Fearne Cotton considering the fact that 2004, however his location will now be taken via Amfo, who hosts Radio 1’s mid-morning programme.

“I Am so satisfied and honoured to be providing Top of the Pops alongside Fearne,” she said in a observation.

The Christmas Day edition will feature stars including Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, James Arthur, Easy Bandit, Rita Ora and The Script.

Craig David, Bastille and Paloma Faith will appear within the New Year different.

On Monday, Yates tweeted to say he had “taken the choice to step down” from his web hosting duties and apologised “unreservedly to the Jewish neighborhood”.

He said his words “bolstered offensive stereotypes” and that the comment used to be “no reflection on how I Actually feel”.

He used the offending phrase within the Halfcast Podcast, hosted by using DJ Chuckie Lothian, while praising artists who chose to remain independently managed, adding: “They May Be managed by means of their brethren.”
