Exclusive: Islamic State leader Baghdadi almost certainly alive – Kurdish security official

Sulaimania, IRAQ (Reuters) – A prime Kurdish counter-terrorism professional said on Monday he was Ninety Nine p.c certain that Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was once alive and positioned south of the Syrian metropolis of Raqqa, after stories that he had been killed.

Iraqi safety forces have ended three years of Islamic State rule in the Iraqi metropolis of Mosul, and the group is under rising power in Raqqa – each strongholds within the militants’ crumbling self-proclaimed caliphate.

Nonetheless, Talabany stated Islamic State used to be shifting ways despite low morale and it would take three or four years to get rid of the workforce.

After defeat, Islamic State would wage an insurgency and resemble al-Qaeda on “steroids”, he stated.
