Iran’s Khamenei says attacks to increase hatred toward U.S., Saudi: TV

Iran’s Supreme Chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei mentioned on Friday assaults in Tehran through Islamic State that killed as a minimum 17 folks will raise hatred toward the us and Saudi Arabia, state TV suggested.

Suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini’s mausoleum in Tehran on Wednesday. Scores of people have been wounded.

“It Will no longer harm our nation’s determination to battle terrorism … but will best elevate hatred for the governments of the U.S. and their stooges within the area like Saudis,” Khamenei mentioned in a message learn at the funeral of victims of the assaults.

Islamic State claimed accountability for the attacks and threatened extra towards Iran’s majority Shi’ite inhabitants, seen by the hardline Sunni militants as heretics.

Iranian authorities mentioned on Thursday 5 of the attackers were Iranian nationals recruited by Islamic State to carry out the assaults throughout the tightly controlled Shi’ite Iran.

Iran’s powerful Progressive Guards Corps blamed the assault on regional rival Saudi Arabia and has threatened revenge. Sunni Saudi Arabia denied any involvement in the attacks.

The assaults have further fueled stress between Riyadh and Tehran as they vie for control of the Gulf and influence in the wider Islamic world.

Iran is likely one of the powers prime the fight against Islamic State forces in Iraq and Syria.
