MP 'threatened to sack sick employee'

An ex-worker of Conservative MP Lucy Allan has claimed she used to be threatened with the sack while on unwell leave.

Arianne Plumbly gave the BBC voicemails she said the Telford MP had left after she was signed off work for 4 weeks.

One message said: “I Am advising you to work as standard or resign. We All Know you’re now not sick.”

The BBC has been unable to contact Ms Allan, But a Tory Birthday Party spokesman mentioned the complaints had been handled “correctly and sympathetically”.

In a written response to the Night Same Old, Ms Allan said: “Arianne Plumbly was once brushed aside from her employment with Lucy Allan, MP in Telford, after 4 months’ employment, for gross misconduct following misuse of the Parliamentary e-mail device, chronic unauthorised absenteeism, refusal to practice an inexpensive guide and rudeness to residents.”

Pass Over Plumbly, 26, informed the BBC the alleged verbal abuse had begun in Could and persevered until she says she was brushed aside “without cause” in September.

‘Screaming and shouting’

“It bought really dangerous the week Earlier Than the election,” stated Ms Allan’s former worker, who was her senior constituency caseworker.

“She was screaming and shouting at me down the telephone pronouncing I used to be pointless and i hadn’t achieved any work.

“However I was working nine except eight, Monday to Saturday a week for eight weeks.

“When she won, she was once telling me how wonderful and wonderful I used to be and i did get an apology.

“I naively put it right down to the stress of the election and i did come to a decision to remain on.”

Could 2015 – Leave Out Plumbly claims the alleged verbal abuse began the week Ahead Of the election, However says she obtained an apology when Ms Allan won the Telford seat.

June 2015 – She claims it began once more when she asked for per week’s vacation to be extended to two weeks.

September 2015 – Pass Over Plumbly was brushed aside Before her contract was once because of finish in December.


Omit Plumbly said she had requested an extension to every week’s vacation and the MP had later threatened to sack her.

She stated after the office manager had left, Ms Allan had “became her anger and frustrations to me”.

“I used to be off unwell for 2 days in September with a horrific cough after which I got a gum an infection.

“My doctor advised me to have four weeks off. That’s when she threatened to sack me.”

‘Devastating affect’

In A Single voicemail, Ms Allan stated: “You Will Have been nauseous day by day. I do not know you might be, if this is some sort of alcohol drawback or whatever it’s, but it surely’s now not a very good excuse.”

Miss Plumbly mentioned: “I have no idea why she would say that to me. I work section time in a pub and everybody knows I hardly drink.”

She stated it had had a “devastating impression” on her and she or he currently didn’t have a job.

“Before this I was extremely bold and enthusiastic. I was once a hit at each interview I bought.”

A Conservative Party spokesman mentioned: “As soon as these complaints had been made they were handled accurately and sympathetically.”
