Zverev gives Raonic a lesson in Rome to reach semis

Rising German megastar Alexander Zverev reached his first ATP Masters One Thousand semi-last with a 7-6(4) 6-1 defeat of world number six Milos Raonic at the Italian Open on Friday.

Zverev, 20, will face John Isner for a spot in the last after the American edged out Croatian Marin Cilic 7-6(Three) 2-6 7-6(2).

“It’s some other stepping stone in my occupation,” Zverev instructed the ATP’s site. “I Feel like I Have played very neatly nowadays. I back very neatly.

“So I’m happy to be in the semis and enjoying John the next day to come, who I Know very smartly from our Saddlebrook (Florida) days. It’ll be a perfect match.”

Afterward Courtroom Centrale, favourite Rafael Nadal performs Austrian Dominic Thiem, who he beat to win the Madrid title remaining week, whereas world quantity two Novak Djokovic performs Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro.
